This infographic was a piece I designed for the board of directors of a residential cooperative in New York City named Curzon House. Angela was the point person I worked with. She informed me that the Board of directors were taking on some needed costly restoration projects and there would be an assessment to the residents in order to pay for them. Angela wanted me to create an infographic which would be presented at a special meeting and mailed to the residents to help them understand the projects as well as projected costs and timeline.
Angela provided a Microsoft Word document containing the copy and content (Figure 2). My idea was to source flat vector illustrations to be laid out with copy, making the content visually clean, attractive, and easily digestible. I also knew I wanted the Curzon House Building to be the visual hero in the piece.
Curzon House was built in 1934. It has 6 floors and 102 units. A few of the 6th floor units have balconies. I found some stock vector illustrations at istockphoto I knew I could make work. I wanted to make some modifications to the building art so that it closely represented Curzon House and its architectural distinctions (Figures 1, 3, 4).
The Board of Directors at Curzon House were happy with how the infographic turned out (Figure 5). Angela said the meeting was a success! The residents, though displeased about the costly assessment, appreciated the effort the board was making to inform them about the needed projects. The residents also empathized with the board over the time and effort on their part over the next few years overseeing the management of the restorations.
